Each year LiveMovers vote on a project to focus their energies on during the school year. This project is called the ByDesign Project. It refers to how the way are streets are designed affects they way they are used. For instance, streets that are safe and convenient for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists alike are that way By Design!

For the 2018-2019 academic year, LiveMovers decided to work on planning to redesign University St on campus, between 13th and 18th avenues. This street directly bisects the western and eastern halves of campus. It’s intersection with 13th avenue is called The Heart of Campus, and is often flooded with students walking, biking, and skateboarding from one destination to another. As with many streets, especially one that runs through the center of a university campus, conflicts arise between users of the road. This is especially true between 15th and 18th avenues, where approximately 200 metered parking spots exist.

LiveMove is working closely with University Planning and Transportation Services to design a University Street that works more effectively for all users and minimizes conflicts.
